Yarmouk University and Sharjah Archaeology Authority Explore Research Collaboration

Sharjah:Yarmouk University President Malek Sharairi and Saeed Al-Naqbi, Director of the Sharjah Archaeology Authority (SAA) in the United Arab Emirates, engaged in discussions on Tuesday about potential collaboration in archaeological research and cultural heritage preservation.

According to Jordan News Agency, President Sharairi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to cooperate with the SAA, recognizing its expertise in archaeological work and scientific research. He emphasized Yarmouk University’s commitment to archaeological studies, particularly through its Faculty of Archaeology and Anthropology, as the institution celebrates its 50th anniversary. The university has been actively involved in excavation projects, studies, and initiatives aimed at uncovering and preserving archaeological sites and artifacts.

Sharairi highlighted Jordan’s rich historical and archaeological heritage, noting its significance as a region that has witnessed the development of various human civilizations. He praised the contributions of Yarmouk University’s faculty members in documenting this heritage and advancing archaeological knowledge in Jordan.

Saeed Al-Naqbi commended Yarmouk University’s academic standing both nationally and internationally. He stressed the importance of sharing expertise and fostering cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Al-Naqbi also detailed the SAA’s efforts in archaeological research and site exploration in the UAE, as well as Sharjah’s commitment to documenting and preserving its cultural heritage.

During their visit, the delegation toured the Faculty of Archaeology and Anthropology, meeting with Dean Khaled Al-Bashaireh and other staff members. They also visited the Jordan Heritage Museum, which plays a crucial role in documenting and preserving the nation’s heritage from ancient times to the present.
