Accra:Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo has inaugurated the county’s second Internal Audit Committee to enhance transparency, accountability, and the prudent management of public resources. The five-member committee, inaugurated alongside Deputy Governor Wilberforce Kitiezo, follows the first committee whose term ran from April 2023 to April 2025.
According to Kenya News Agency, Governor Ottichilo praised the outgoing committee for its contributions and expressed confidence that the new team would continue to build upon the achievements made. He emphasized the county government’s dedication to supporting the committee’s work, highlighting the systems already in place to ensure accountability and responsible use of public funds.
Ottichilo noted that Vihiga County is one of three counties nationwide to qualify for donor grants, attributing this success to its commitment to transparency and accountability. The new committee will collaborate with county departments to strengthen internal controls, address audit concerns, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. Its mandate focuses on enhancing oversight of public funds and improving financial management across county departments.
