Nairobi: Kenya Kwanza-allied elected leaders from the Mt. Kenya region have intensified their campaign for the re-election of President William Ruto, citing development projects as evidence of the administration’s achievements. The leaders, who were speaking during a development tour at Doldol Secondary School in Laikipia North, rallied residents to support President Ruto’s bid for a second term.
According to Kenya News Agency, key speakers during the campaign included Laikipia North Member of Parliament (MP) Sarah Korere and Dagoretti South MP, John Kiarie, alongside Laikipia Woman Representative Jane Kagiri and Wildlife Principal Secretary, Silvia Museiya. Korere said that the Kenya Kwanza administration had brought renewed attention and development to pastoral communities that they claimed had been neglected by previous governments.
Korere highlighted that Laikipia North had been neglected for decades but now has reasons to be optimistic under Ruto’s leadership. Infrastructure projects and appointments to key government positions were cited as significant achievements of the current administration. The Nanyuki-Doldol road project, which began construction this month, was emphasized as a critical infrastructure initiative expected to enhance connectivity and economic activities in the region.
The leaders also credited the administration with addressing debts inherited from previous governments and improving healthcare services across the country. John Kiarie, MP for Dagoretti South, stated that the country had not seen development as rapid as under President Ruto. He noted that upon taking office, the government inherited significant debts, which have now been cleared up to 2032.
They argued that these projects demonstrated President Ruto’s commitment to transforming previously underserved areas and urged residents to support his re-election bid in the next General Election. During the tour, the leaders also commissioned the renovated dining hall and ablution block in the school, pledged by the Head of State during his recent visit to the area.
