Mombasa: Huduma Centre Mombasa has recognized its staff for exemplary performance in 2025 in a move aimed at boosting morale and enhancing productivity. The centre, which has 131 staff drawn from various government departments, was earlier this year ranked the best-performing Huduma Centre nationally.
According to Kenya News Agency, the Employee of the Year award went to Onesmus Makalo, an officer from the National Treasury working at the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) desk at the centre. Makalo expressed his surprise and gratitude upon receiving the award, emphasizing his dedication to hard work and teamwork. He noted that the success of the centre is a result of collective efforts and strong leadership.
Makalo advised young public servants to focus on their contributions rather than personal gains, highlighting the importance of dedication and service. Meanwhile, Nawwar Hammad, the Regional Officer for the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), was awarded the Best Huduma Ambassador of the Year for her outreach programs across several counties.
Hammad’s initiatives have included school visits, teacher training, and parental engagement to promote education opportunities and access to government scholarships. She noted the significant benefits students have received from accessing KUCCPS services at Huduma Centre Mombasa.
Mombasa Huduma Centre Manager Harrison Yogo was recognized for his exemplary leadership, having been honored as a national hero during the Mashujaa Day celebrations. Yogo highlighted the centre’s high customer traffic and the dedication of its 133 staff members. He introduced the reward and recognition ceremony to motivate staff and acknowledge their hard work.
Yogo also noted that identity card services remain the most sought-after at the centre, with the National Registration Bureau desk serving an increased number of citizens following the waiver of ID charges. The centre continues to operate efficiently, providing services from 7am to 7pm daily.
