Migori: Migori County will today honor the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga with a memorial to be held at Awendo Green Stadium in Awendo Sub County-Migori. The event will bring together residents of the county who did not get a chance to eulogize Raila during his burial at his home in Bondo-Siaya County.
According to Kenya News Agency, Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko stated that since Raila’s burial was conducted within 72 hours, many people, particularly from Southern Nyanza, missed the opportunity to mourn him. He expressed that the memorial is a wise decision by the county and friends of Raila to give the community a chance to honor his legacy.
Governor Ayacko urged county residents to attend the public event, emphasizing that there will be no restrictions on attendance. He highlighted that the memorial is an opportunity for the people of Migori County to unite and celebrate Raila’s life and legacy. Raila was a leader who made a significant impact on many lives, and the gathering aims to honor his memory.
Governor Ochilo further explained that the event is intended to be a celebration of Raila’s life, providing an opportunity for the community to heal and come together in solidarity. He clarified that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party and Raila’s friends would fully finance the event, dismissing rumors about the county incurring expenses for the memorial.
