Leaders Pay Tributes to Fallen Former IEBC Chair Chebukati

Narok: Leaders in Narok County have joined Kenyans to mourn the death of former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati, who passed on while undergoing treatment in a Nairobi hospital. Led by Governor Patrick Ntutu, the leaders highlighted Chebukati’s significant contribution to Kenya’s electoral system, particularly during the challenging 2017 and 2022 elections.

According to Kenya News Agency, Governor Ntutu remarked on Chebukati’s dedication to the democratic process, expressing condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. The governor made these comments at Olposimoru trading centre, where he inaugurated a newly constructed sales yard, two maternity wards, and a water project.

East Africa Legislative Assembly Member of Parliament David Sankok also mourned Chebukati as a courageous leader. He extended his prayers to Chebukati’s family and urged the public to refrain from spreading harmful messages on social media that could add to the family’s distress.

Narok County Assembly Majority Leader Sonkoi Lemein noted the loss of a courageous leader who ensured two elections were conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner.
