Ziwa:Uasin Gishu: A commercial farm in Ziwa, JOSCO Farm, has been recognized for its role in driving economic growth and providing practical skills to young people through modern agricultural practices.
According to Kenya News Agency, Dr. Philip Chebunet, the County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Investment, Tourism, Cooperatives, and Enterprise Development, praised JOSCO Farm during a visit. He highlighted the farm as an example of how agriculture can be a key economic driver when approached as a business.
The county government is keen on supporting innovative agricultural ventures like JOSCO Farm, which demonstrate the potential for farming to become a viable commercial enterprise and create jobs. Chebunet emphasized the importance of mentoring young people by imparting agricultural knowledge and practical skills through opportunities at the farm.
Chebunet also stated that the county would continue fostering partnerships with innovative farmers, cooperatives, and private-sector players to boost value addition, improve market access, and enhance enterprise development.
