IEBC Urges Makueni Residents to Increase Voter Registration

Nairobi: The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) has announced the launch of the distributed renewable energy and clean cooking Project Preparation Facility

Makueni: The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in Makueni Constituency has appealed to the residents to register as voters in the area. Making the appeal on Wednesday in his office, IEBC Assistant Election Officer (AEO) Nicolas Kalimi urged elders, chiefs and their assistants, opinion and elected leaders to sensitise the people in an effort to improve registration of voters that is low.

According to Kenya News Agency, Kalimi revealed that only 592 voters have been registered since the exercise began on September 29, 2025. He expressed concern over the low turnout, despite ongoing efforts to reach eligible voters. Kalimi emphasized the need for local leaders and community influencers to play an active role in raising awareness about the importance of voter registration.

Kalimi also noted that there have been 82 voter transfers within the constituency. He highlighted that to register, individuals must possess a valid passport or an Identity card. The IEBC continues to seek the cooperation of local leaders to enhance the registration process and ensure a higher participation rate in the electoral process.
