Bungoma Governor Calls for Unity in Support of Lamu Refinery Project

Bungoma:Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has urged leaders in the United Opposition to refrain from politicizing the Lamu Refinery Project, emphasizing the project’s potential to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and enhance livelihoods.

According to Kenya News Agency, Lusaka appealed to political leaders to prioritize national interests over partisan politics, advocating for strategic investments as key drivers of economic transformation instead of turning them into political controversies.

Speaking at a Sunday service at Mungore ACK Church in Bumula Sub-County, Lusaka also intensified his grassroots campaign efforts for President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027. As Ruto’s Western Kenya Presidential Re-election Coordinator, he defended the administration’s development achievements, pointing to ongoing and planned infrastructure projects in Bungoma and the broader Western Kenya region.

Lusaka mentioned several projects, including the Standard Gauge Railway extension through Myanga in Bumula, the Lunakwe Energy Centre, the Rironi-Mau Summit-Malaba dual carriageway, and the Malakisi Bridge. He stated that these initiatives would enhance connectivity, unlock economic opportunities, and support regional development.

The governor asserted that the government’s development agenda would play a central role in the 2027 political contest and challenged the opposition to offer alternative programs focused on tangible development rather than political rhetoric.

He encouraged residents of Western Kenya to back Ruto in the 2027 General Election, arguing that continuity in leadership would sustain ongoing projects and accelerate economic transformation.
