Army Chief Inaugurates AI System at German Jordanian University

Amman:The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Majdi Al Harasis, visited the German Jordanian University (GJU) where he was received by the university’s president, Prof. Alaa Al-Halhouli.

According to Jordan News Agency, the visit focused on enhancing cooperation between the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and GJU, particularly in academic, scientific, and training areas. The aim is to leverage specialized expertise and capabilities for mutual benefit.

During the visit, the army chief was briefed on the university’s establishment, its main programs and specializations, and its achievements in education, scientific research, and innovation. Emphasis was placed on the university’s role in preparing students amidst fast-paced technological and scientific advancements.

Maj. Gen. Al Harasis inaugurated the Artificial Intelligence Computing and Operations system (AICOR), developed by GJU in collaboration with the Special Communications Commission. This system is designed to enhance the university’s AI capabilities, scientific research, and practical applications, while aligning academic expertise with real-world challenges.

The briefing also covered the system’s capabilities in AI, cybersecurity, data analytics, and generative AI, highlighting its role in enabling students and researchers to work on real-world projects and develop them into practical solutions.

The chairman toured the university’s Technology, Research and Innovation Complex and various scientific laboratories. He reviewed the learning environment, equipment, and resources available to students, emphasizing the importance of partnerships between the armed forces and academic institutions in developing national expertise and keeping pace with modernization.

Al Harasis stressed the significance of exchanging expertise and utilizing scientific research outcomes to improve performance and cooperation between military and academic institutions. Prof. Al-Halhouli echoed these sentiments, affirming the university’s commitment to supporting national development through academic collaboration.

At the visit’s conclusion, Al Harasis praised GJU’s academic and scientific standards and the accomplishments of its faculty and students. He underscored the importance of institutional partnerships in advancing national capabilities and strengthening Jordan’s knowledge and innovation ecosystem.
