Aqaba:The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) recently hosted a Spanish delegation to plan the city’s inaugural international padel club championship, set for the first quarter of 2027.
According to Jordan News Agency, discussions during the meeting focused on the vision for hosting the tournament, attracting international visitors, and expanding investments in padel-related equipment, apparel, and support services.
Shadi Majali, Chairman of the ASEZA Board of Commissioners, emphasized that the introduction of sports tourism is part of a broader strategy to diversify Aqaba’s tourism offerings and attract new visitor segments. He highlighted that hosting global tournaments showcases Aqaba’s full potential, providing visitors with opportunities to enjoy its beaches, water sports, and historical sites alongside the sporting events.
The Spanish delegation praised Aqaba’s infrastructure, hotels, and coastal setting, confirming its readiness to host major international competitions and support long-term commercial partnerships.
