Kapenguria: Youngsters were crowned the official winners of the Tyno Rotino Riwo Ward Tournament 2025, triumphing over Kanyarkwat FC with a narrow 1-0 victory in a closely contested final match. The thrilling conclusion took place at the Kong’elai Primary School Grounds in West Pokot Sub County.

According to Kenya News Agency, the female category saw Falcon FC dominate with a decisive 4-1 win against Komesi FC, with all goals being scored during regular playtime. The victorious teams were awarded Sh20,000 and new football jerseys, while the second and third-place winners received Sh15,000 and Sh10,000 respectively, along with jerseys.

Tournament Patron Tyno Rotino praised the participants and encouraged the youth to engage in such tournaments as a means to steer clear of drug abuse and criminal activities. Rotino highlighted the tournament’s success in showcasing talent and teamwork, reflecting the vibrant spirit of football in Riwo Ward.

The tournament saw the participation of 78 teams from across Riwo Ward, with only four advancing to the finals. The event was themed ‘Youth for Change,’ focusing on engaging young students during the school holidays to prevent them from succumbing to negative influences.

Dr. Naomi Kendagor, a Kenyan philanthropist based in the USA, attended the finals and commended all participants. She emphasized the importance of parental involvement in nurturing children’s talents and promised rewards for youth participating in community activities like sports.
