Kandara Hospital Expansion Introduces New Medical Facilities and Digital Forensic Service Centre

Kandara:Residents of Kandara Sub-county in Murang’a County will benefit from enhanced healthcare services following the commissioning of Phase Two of Kandara Level 4 Hospital. The expansion includes the addition of critical medical facilities such as two operating theatres and new wards.

According to Kenya News Agency, the Murang’a County government aims to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and increase hospital capacity with this expansion, bringing specialized medical services closer to residents. Governor Irungu Kang’ata, during the launch of the new facilities, highlighted the inclusion of fully equipped consultation rooms, a pharmacy, a laboratory, and additional wards, which will enable the hospital to manage a broader range of medical cases.

The expanded facilities are expected to alleviate pressure on existing health institutions by improving access to medical services and reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for specialized treatment. Governor Kang’ata emphasized the investment’s focus on providing quality, accessible, and dignified healthcare within local communities.

Additionally, the establishment of a Digital Forensic Service Centre at the hospital was announced, which will offer specialized services and generate additional revenue for the County government. This center is set to diversify the hospital’s service offerings and reinforce its role as a key healthcare institution in the region.

The expansion builds on previous enhancements, such as new inpatient wards designed to boost bed capacity and improve medical service delivery. With these developments, the hospital is expected to enhance patient flow, provide better working conditions for healthcare professionals, and strengthen both outpatient and inpatient services.

The commissioning event also featured a free medical camp, offering residents general consultations, health screenings, and other essential services. This initiative aimed to increase community access to basic healthcare and raise awareness about early diagnosis and preventive healthcare.

Governor Kang’ata reiterated the County government’s commitment to investing in the upgrading, expansion, and equipping of health facilities to meet the growing demand for medical services. Strengthening healthcare infrastructure remains a key priority in the County’s development agenda, with the goal of ensuring that residents have access to quality treatment without facing financial and geographical barriers.

The expansion of Kandara hospital comes in response to the increasing demand for public healthcare services, emphasizing the need for greater capacity, modern equipment, and specialized services. Similar investments are being made across the County’s health facilities to decentralize healthcare delivery and improve access to essential medical services.
