Wangunyu and Kibubuti Schools Undergo Major Renovations in Kiambaa

Kiambaa: Roofing works at Wangunyu Comprehensive School in Kiambaa Constituency, Kiambu County, have begun as renovations come to a close ahead of the school re-opening. Kiambaa Member of Parliament (MP), John Njuguna, alias Kawanjiku, who is spearheading the renovation works, lauded the progress of the project, which is halfway done.

According to Kenya News Agency, the legislator noted that the project involved full renovation works, including walls, cabro installation, roofing, and installation of water tanks, among other repairs. Kawanjiku emphasized that the new roofing works are set to begin shortly, aiming to transform Wangunyu into a modern school offering a refreshed environment for learning and teaching.

Similar renovation efforts are underway at Kibubuti Comprehensive School, involving refurbishing walls, roofing, cabro installation, floor repairs, and more. On this project, Kiambaa MP assured residents that the school’s administration block would also receive a facelift as part of efforts to improve the overall learning environment.

The lawmaker expressed optimism about completing the renovations ahead of the third term school re-opening beginning August 24, 2026. These renovations complement the Ministry of Education’s efforts to improve school infrastructure as part of its initiative to enhance learning conditions across the country.

Through the Kenya Primary Education Equity in Learning (KPEEL) and Kenya Secondary Education Equity and Quality Improvement Programme (SEEQIP), the Ministry is implementing interventions aimed at improving access, quality, and equity in basic education. The Ministry of Education implementation documents under SEEQIP indicate plans to construct or rehabilitate 1,200 classrooms and sanitation facilities in targeted schools, reflecting the government’s wider investment in improving physical learning environments.
