Ebunangwe TVET to Welcome Students for September 2026 Intake

Mombasa: Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo has reaffirmed his commitment to operationalising Ebunangwe Technical and Vocational College (TVET), announcing that the institution will be ready to admit students for the September 2026 intake. Ottichilo chaired a stakeholder engagement meeting at the college to assess its preparedness and discuss the necessary measures to make the institution fully functional.

According to Kenya News Agency, the meeting followed an earlier engagement with a delegation from Ebunangwe TVC at the County Headquarters. Governor Ottichilo emphasized his longstanding dedication to the institution’s operationalisation, a project he championed since his tenure as the area Member of Parliament for Emuhaya.

Governor Ottichilo expressed that while the college has made considerable progress, several challenges remain before students can commence their studies. He committed to working with stakeholders to resolve these issues, with the immediate priority being the institution’s readiness to welcome and serve students.

He commended local leaders and Sigalagala National Polytechnic for their support, highlighting that the operationalisation of Ebunangwe TVET is crucial for providing technical and vocational skills to young people in Vihiga. Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba shared this sentiment, describing the college as a long-awaited dream for the community that promises improved security, business opportunities, and expanded access to technical training.

Milemba reported significant progress in preparation for the September intake, noting that the Ministry of Education has already assigned key personnel to the institution. In addition, ongoing construction of a 340-bed capacity hostel, supported by the Constituency Development Fund, is set to further enhance the college’s facilities.

The operationalisation of Ebunangwe TVET is expected to bolster technical and vocational education in Vihiga, equipping young people with skills for employment and entrepreneurship. Stakeholders anticipate that the institution will also stimulate local economic development and growth in surrounding businesses and services.

The meeting included participation from North East Bunyore MCA Aineah Hellam, County Executive Committee Members, and other key stakeholders, demonstrating the collaborative effort to ensure the college’s readiness for the upcoming academic year.
