Kedowa: The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has successfully carried out its grassroots elections across Wajir County, with officials reporting a smooth and orderly process.

According to Kenya News Agency, UDA official Salma Ochieng stated that the elections, which took place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., saw an impressive turnout across all polling centers in the county. Ochieng, accompanied by the County Returning Officer Gladys Chebet and party official Victor Mtai, noted that the exercise followed a week-long campaign aimed at sensitizing party members and aspirants about the elections.

Ochieng explained that the party had been conducting sensitization activities since Monday at the polling center level, which culminated in the successful elections. The party has now closed all polling centers across Wajir County. She emphasized that UDA aims to establish leadership structures at the grassroots in compliance with legal requirements, with elections targeting seven categories of representatives, including special interest groups, members’ representatives, farmers’ representatives, religious figures, professionals, MSMEs, and youth representatives.

The official expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the elections, noting that they were free and fair, without any significant challenges. “We are content that the elections were conducted peacefully across the county. We did not experience any issues, and we appreciate all members who turned up to participate,” she said.

Ochieng congratulated all aspirants and voters for their participation, describing the process as a success in the party’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots presence.
