Tharaka nithi: Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has commissioned the newly constructed Kajiunduthi Stadium in Muthambi Ward. This marks a significant milestone in the county’s efforts to provide modern sports facilities and nurture young talent.
According to Kenya News Agency, Governor Njuki emphasized the importance of well-equipped sports infrastructure during the commissioning ceremony. He highlighted that such facilities create safe and inclusive spaces where young people can develop their abilities and transform their talents into lifelong skills. The stadium is part of a broader county plan to establish additional sports complexes across Tharaka Nithi, aiming to empower youth and use sports as a tool for social development and community cohesion.
A key highlight of the facility is the inclusion of the county’s first public swimming pool, addressing a long-standing gap in recreational amenities and offering new opportunities for training, competitions, and youth engagement. Governor Njuki also announced plans to procure a 51-seater bus in the upcoming supplementary budget to facilitate free transportation for local football teams participating in competitions across the region.
Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki commended the county government for constructing a stadium that meets required standards and praised ongoing efforts to prioritize sports development. He pledged to work closely with national sports leadership to secure additional support for local sporting programs, including potential funding for youth leagues and training initiatives.
The commissioning of Kajiunduthi Stadium signals Tharaka Nithi County’s renewed commitment to expanding sports infrastructure, promoting youth development, and strengthening community participation.
