Tharaka nithi: Residents of Tharaka Nithi county have been urged to turn out in large numbers for the upcoming Chuka Igambang’ombe Cultural Festival, a two-day event aimed at celebrating the community’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and indigenous cuisine.
According to Kenya News Agency, Chuka Igambang’ombe Cultural Festival Chairlady, Kellen Muthoni, expressed her gratitude towards the Tharaka Nithi County Government for its ongoing support of the annual cultural event. She emphasized that this partnership has been crucial in preserving and promoting the community’s cultural identity.
Muthoni announced that this year’s festival will be held on July 17 and 18 at Kaanwa Chief’s Camp and expressed confidence that it will attract participants from across the county and beyond. She appealed for continued support from the county government, highlighting the festival’s role as an important platform for showcasing traditional music, dance, arts, cultural practices, and local cuisine while fostering unity among residents.
Tharaka Nithi Chief Officer for Education, Vocational Training, and Culture, Mwiti Munoo, reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to supporting cultural festivals across the county, stating that they play a vital role in preserving heritage, strengthening cultural identity, and promoting social cohesion. Munoo assured that the county government would continue collaborating with organizers to ensure the success of this year’s Chuka Igambang’ombe Cultural Festival.
He encouraged residents, cultural groups, and visitors to attend the event in large numbers and experience the region’s cultural diversity through traditional music, dances, customs, and indigenous foods.
