Hanoi:Tharaka-Nithi Tharaka-Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has denied accusations that he is evading the police, labeling them as political propaganda and asserting that he cannot be intimidated.
According to Kenya News Agency, these allegations surfaced after the Senate Standing Committee on Education instructed Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to issue an arrest warrant against Njuki for repeatedly failing to attend committee summons. Despite this, Njuki has announced his intention to run for the Tharaka-Nithi senatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.
During a public event in Kambandi, Mugwe Ward, Njuki also discussed his commitment to enhancing healthcare in the county. He revealed plans to construct outpatient blocks at dispensaries, upgrade them to health centers, and elevate Mpukoni Health Centre to a Level Four facility. Additionally, Njuki promised to support local dairy farmers by providing a milk cooler for Mwiru farmers.
Addressing national politics, Njuki encouraged residents to back President Dr. William Ruto and Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki in the upcoming 2027 General Election. He believes their support could facilitate Prof. Kindiki’s potential presidential run in 2032.
Njuki also emphasized the importance of preparing for the upcoming rainy season to bolster food security. He urged farmers to ready their fields in anticipation of the rains to enhance agricultural output. County Assembly Speaker John Mbabu echoed this sentiment, highlighting agriculture as a vital part of the local economy and encouraging early farm preparation to boost food production and improve household incomes.
