Nairobi: A prominent online gaming firm, SportPesa, took a lead in ushering in Christmas festivities for its enthusiasts as they declared Joseph Kamau, a Nairobi tailor, Sh20 million jackpot winner. On Thursday afternoon, Mega Jackpot Pro 13 unveiled Kamau, who said he used only Sh99 as his stake and won a staggering 20,744,582 shillings after correctly predicting the outcome of all the thirteen games in the Mega Jackpot Pro 13.
According to Kenya News Agency, the Mega Jackpot Pro 13 is a sub-category of the known Mega Jackpot that ordinarily has 17 games, but it only has 13 games and a different prize purse. Speaking on the day of his unveiling, 41-year-old Kamau narrated how his biggest win, courtesy of the SportPesa Mega Jackpot, came to be. He shared that he had a feeling that his win was coming soon, although he never used to get many correct predictions. On two consecutive weekends, however, he managed to get up to 11 games correct, which set the stage for his eventual win.
The businessman, who owns a tailoring shop in Nairobi, revealed how tense he was while following the bet slip, something he does not normally do. He explained that he was tense because he ordinarily does not follow the progress of his bets. On this occasion, he had multi-bets on some of the games and received message alerts indicating they were correct, which shifted his attention to the Mega Jackpot bet. The last game was between Napoli and Roma, and despite his initial lack of confidence, he picked Napoli, who were playing away. The whole game, he was praying, and soon after, he received the congratulatory message from SportPesa.
In a visit to his tailoring shop in Nairobi CBD, Kamau revealed his immediate plans for the windfall. He expressed his desire to expand his business by buying modern tailoring machines to take it to the next level and his hope to own a home. Kamau mentioned that this win has come at the right time with Christmas around the corner, allowing his family to go on vacation without the pressure of school fees in January. He encouraged fellow gamers to play responsibly and find their balance, advising against using money they cannot afford to lose.
With his win, the Mega Jackpot Pro 13 reverts to 10 million shillings, while the Mega Jackpot stands at 110,682,430, which can also be won using only 99 bob as a stake.
