Nyamira: West Mugirango Member of Parliament (MP), Stephen Mogaka, has officially opened a tuition block and two ultra-modern fully equipped science labs to provide ample nurturing and learning environment for students at Nyakeore Secondary School in Nyamira County. During the occasion, Mogaka emphasized that education is the only equalizer in a society where gaping economic disparities between the rich and the poor are outrightly discriminative in our communities and in the country as a whole.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mogaka assured that he is striving to ensure that students within his constituency have equal opportunities in accessing quality education. He stated that only through education can they compete both locally and globally for job opportunities and other prospects that will enable them to improve and transform their lives, while also helping their families escape economic struggles. Mogaka advised students to use education as a weapon to secure a brighter future amidst uncertainties, encouraging them to achieve excellent grades for university or college admissions.
The legislator confirmed the allocation of sufficient funds for constructing spacious classrooms and adequately equipped science laboratories at Nyakeore Secondary School. He also ensured the timely disbursement of bursaries so that no learner would be sent home due to school fees arrears. Mogaka challenged students to excel in their final secondary examinations, urging them to utilize their teachers’ expertise, especially in challenging subjects like mathematics, sciences, and languages.
Nyakeore Secondary School Principal, Charles Omosa, expressed gratitude for the MP’s support in upgrading the school’s infrastructure to provide a quality learning environment for students at the Senior Secondary School (SSS) level, which commenced at the start of this year. Omosa noted that the construction and equipping of the science labs and tuition block have motivated the entire school community, enhancing the school’s capacity to host over 1000 students without overcrowding fears.
Mr. Omosa promised that Nyakeore students will rank among the top candidates nationally when results are released, thanks to the empowerment they have received.
