Mumias: A health facility that was shut down several years ago in Mumias West has been brought back to life through a partnership between the Kakamega County Government and the Rotary Foundation.
According to Kenya News Agency, the Craig Memorial Nyapora Health Centre in Mumias Central Ward is now operational and serving residents from Mumias West Sub-County and neighbouring areas. Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa emphasized that the transformation of the facility demonstrates the impact of partnerships in improving access to healthcare, particularly in areas where communities have long faced challenges accessing medical services.
Barasa spoke after hosting a team from the Rotary Foundation led by Dr. Adeyami Oladokun. The team visited the facility to review the progress of the project and assess its impact on the local community. The Governor expressed the county’s commitment to continue working closely with the Rotary Foundation to address emerging needs at the facility and support efforts to improve healthcare delivery across the county.
He highlighted that the partnership had provided an opportunity to turn an abandoned project into a functional health facility, thereby bringing essential services closer to residents. Barasa further stated that the county government would continue seeking more partnerships with development organisations to complement its investment in health infrastructure and expand access to quality healthcare services.
