Machakos: Education Cabinet Secretary, Julius Migos Ogamba has presided over the launch of the national education dialogues at the Machakos International Convention Center in Machakos County. The State Department for Basic Education organized nation-wide county-based dialogues focusing on the quality of education and learning outcomes under competency-based education (CBE).
According to Kenya News Agency, the dialogues, themed ‘strengthening stakeholder engagement for effective implementation of competency-based education,’ will be held in all 47 counties from March 7th to March 13th, 2025. These meetings are designed to engage all stakeholders in the education sector regarding the ongoing implementation of the CBE, including the progress, achievements, and opportunities arising from the rollout.
The objectives of the dialogues include updating stakeholders on the status of competency-based education implementation and providing a platform for stakeholders’ participation in the validation of Transition Guidelines from Junior School to Senior School. The dialogues will also appraise stakeholders on teacher recruitment and capacity building while receiving feedback from stakeholders on the implementation of competency-based education.
Present during the launch were Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang, CEOs from KNEC, KICD, and TSC, among other education stakeholders.
