Chuka: The Principal Secretary (PS) state department for basic education, John Ololtuaa, has urged students to exercise discipline and protect their learning institutions to ensure they excel academically. During a thanksgiving event celebrating the 2025 national examination results and offering prayers for the 2026 class at St. Elizabeth Girls Senior School in Chepkunyuk ward, Ololtuaa emphasized the importance of treating schools as sacred spaces that should benefit future generations.
According to Kenya News Agency, Ololtuaa encouraged students to focus on their studies and warned against the pitfalls of indiscipline, peer pressure, teenage pregnancies, and alcoholism, describing them as obstacles that can hinder their future success. He also advised parents to speak positively about their children, asserting that the words parents use can significantly influence their children’s futures. Ololtuaa highlighted the importance of collaboration between teachers, parents, and students in achieving academic excellence.
Ololtuaa called on teachers to dedicate themselves to educating students to achieve excellent results, noting that hard work attracts divine blessings. He acknowledged the government’s role in supporting the education sector, emphasizing the necessity of teachers’ commitment in realizing positive outcomes for learners.
At the same event, Tinderet constituency Member of Parliament Julius Melly, who chairs the parliamentary committee on education, challenged the teachers at St. Elizabeth Girls Senior School to ensure a 100 percent transition to university. He expressed confidence in the school’s potential to match the performance of top schools in the country and praised the students for their discipline, urging them to maintain it for academic success.
Nandi Hills constituency member of national assembly, Benard Kitur, echoed these sentiments and reiterated his commitment to supporting local schools through the national government constituency development fund to promote academic excellence. He presented a cheque of Sh.6.5 million to St. Elizabeth Girls Senior School, allocating Sh.3 million for solarization and the remainder for renovation projects. Kitur commended the school for its progress over the past three years and expressed his aspiration for it to become one of the leading girls’ schools in the constituency.
