Doha:Makueni At least 30,468 candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2026 have commenced their national examinations across 429 centers in Makueni County. The candidates are distributed among 358 public schools and 71 private institutions, with 14,877 boys and 15,591 girls participating in the exams that began at 830 a.m.
According to Kenya News Agency, County Director of Education Lucy Resiato reported that the examination process started smoothly despite one girl in Makindu Sub-county experiencing labor pains and being rushed to the hospital, where she gave birth and continued with her exams. Examination materials were distributed from 21 containers located in the offices of Deputy County Commissioners and Assistant County Commissioners across the region.
Makueni Sub-County Director of Education Richard Ng’ang’a confirmed that examination materials were successfully delivered to all designated centers, supported by security and transportation arrangements. In the sub-county, 2,870 candidates were expected to take the English examination in the morning, with 2,861 candidates scheduled for the Chemistry exam in the second session. The slight difference in numbers was attributed to some candidates not taking Chemistry, including those in an adult education center.
Ng’ang’a highlighted the cooperation of sub-county security teams, led by the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), in ensuring the safe delivery of examination materials, especially in light of potential El Niño weather conditions. He assured that all operations were proceeding without incident.
Sub-County DCC Said Abdallah stated that adequate security personnel and vehicles were deployed to all examination centers, and no challenges had arisen regarding the monitoring of examination materials. Makueni Sub-County TSC Director Daniel Ole Munyere added that teachers and officials were fully prepared, with 51 center managers, 58 supervisors, and 262 invigilators overseeing the process. Munyere emphasized the commitment to maintaining security, integrity, and proper examination procedures throughout the period.
