Lodwar: Turkana Urban Water and Sanitation Company (TUWASCO) has officially welcomed a new Managing Director, Kelly Komi Lemuya, in a recent handover ceremony. The transition marks a significant step for the utility company as it aims to bolster its operations and service delivery.
According to Kenya News Agency, Board Chairperson Phillip Aemun regarded Lemuya’s appointment as a milestone achievement for TUWASCO. Aemun expressed enthusiasm about reaching a key priority of the Board, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the institution and acquiring necessary licenses to allow the company to operate at its full capacity.
The leadership change occurs as TUWASCO seeks to enhance its service capabilities. Outgoing Acting MD, Aaron Kokuro, highlighted recent successes, including a notable improvement in revenue collection, achieving Sh5 million and surpassing last month’s targets. Kokuro emphasized the importance of sustaining revenue growth while addressing non-revenue water issues, a significant challenge for the company.
In his acceptance speech, Lemuya committed to building on the company’s achievements, collaborating with staff, the Board, and other sector stakeholders to improve water services within the Lodwar Municipality.
