Kisumu: Police have arrested a murder suspect accused of fatally stabbing a motorcycle (boda boda) rider at Kondele roundabout in Kisumu County. The suspect, identified as Wycliffe Kipkasari Kipsaina, was apprehended in the Jebrok area of Vihiga County, where he had been hiding since the incident.
According to Kenya News Agency, police stated that the suspect had been evading capture for several days following the fatal attack on January 24, 2026. Kondele Police Station Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Daniel Ogechi confirmed the arrest, noting that detectives tracked the suspect through intelligence-led operations.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident originated from a minor traffic altercation along the Kondele-Kibos road. A Probox vehicle, with registration number KCX 622Y, reportedly slowed down at a zebra crossing, leading to a collision with the motorcycle from behind.
Police reports indicate that the collision angered the driver, who then made a U-turn, parked by the roadside, and pursued the rider. The suspect is alleged to have stabbed the rider during the ensuing confrontation. The victim, known popularly as Junior, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The suspect is currently detained in police custody as investigations continue. Detectives are conducting forensic analysis and are actively working to recover the murder weapon.
