Mororo: A middle-aged man has been arrested in Mororo, Tana River County, for allegedly defiling a 6-year-old girl in the area. Police from a nearby post rescued the suspect, Muktar Iman Suka, from a mob that attempted to assault him for the alleged act.
According to Kenya News Agency, this is not the first time the suspect has been linked to such incidents. Residents claim that he has previously faced similar allegations from other victims in the area, yet no actions were taken. Concerned residents have called for swift justice to protect victims and ensure justice is served.
Osman Wako, a local community leader, expressed concern over the rise in defilement cases and early pregnancies in Mororo. He urged parents to be vigilant and take extra care of their children, especially during school closures, to ensure their safety.
Wako highlighted that this is the third time the suspect has been involved in defilement cases without facing consequences. He urged authorities to act swiftly and ensure a fair and transparent resolution as the community closely watches the proceedings.
Ngui Mutuvya, chairperson of the Kamba community in Garissa and Tana River County, also pleaded with authorities to ensure justice is served. He encouraged Mororo residents to remain united regardless of their tribe.
Local residents have noted a rise in defilement cases in recent months and called on security agencies to take firm action against perpetrators. The community remains hopeful for justice while urging parents to stay vigilant in safeguarding their children.
