Makueni: Makueni County Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has imposed a sixty-day immediate ban on sand harvesting in Kilome Sub County. Mutula issued the directive through an Executive Order he signed on October 1, 2025, and released to the media.
According to Kenya News Agency, the Governor has tasked the Makueni Sand Conservation and Utilisation Authority (MSCUA) to reorganise sand operations and ensure full compliance within the specified period in the area. The ban follows sustained public outcry over unregulated sand harvesting in Kilome sub-county.
