KEPSA Mourns the Demise of Raila Odinga

Nairobi: The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) has joined the nation and the world in mourning the loss of the former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, one of Kenya’s greatest statesmen.

According to Kenya News Agency, KEPSA expressed its sincerest sympathies and condolences to Odinga’s family and friends during this difficult time of grief and loss. The alliance highlighted Odinga’s dedication to the country’s economic prosperity, which extended beyond his political career, emphasizing his visionary leadership and commitment to the private sector.

The statement from KEPSA recalled Odinga’s instrumental role as the 2nd Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya from 2008 to 2013, particularly his initiative to institutionalize the Prime Minister’s Roundtable with the private sector in 2010. This forum established a critical mechanism for collaboration between government and industry, addressing bottlenecks and shaping policy for a better investment climate. Known today as the KEPSA Prime Minister’s Roundtable, this initiative significantly contributed to improving the ease of doing business and remains foundational to public-private engagement in Kenya.

KEPSA also highlighted Odinga’s commitment to empowering the private sector as a key driver of wealth creation, economic growth, and job creation. His efforts laid crucial groundwork for the sustained partnership KEPSA enjoys with the government, including investments in expanding growth areas like the digital economy and circular economy, and strengthening value chains linked to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

In collaboration with KEPSA, Odinga championed efforts to transform Kenya into a competitive trading nation, focusing on goods branded ‘Made in Kenya.’ KEPSA cherishes the memory of Odinga’s efforts to foster dialogue and champion reforms that have had a lasting impact on the business community and the country. His legacy of endurance, persistence, and patriotism for Kenya will be remembered.

The statement concluded with a wish for Odinga’s soul to rest in peace and for his family to find strength in the memories of his dedicated public service.
