KCSE Examinations Begin Smoothly in Kwale County

Kwale:The 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations commenced without any disruptions in Kwale County, as education officials confirmed the timely delivery of examination materials to the respective centers.

According to Kenya News Agency, Kwale County Director of Education Ahmed Abdi reported that all examination materials reached their destinations on time, with school principals in Matuga Sub-County present to receive them. He noted that the county had registered 12,171 candidates across 125 examination centers, including public, private, and adult candidate centers.

Abdi highlighted that there was a decline in the number of candidates compared to previous years, pointing out that this year’s group is the second-last to sit the national examination under the 8-4-4 education system. In Kwale, the four sub-counties of Kinango, Matuga, Lunga Lunga, and Msambweni registered a total of 123 private candidates.

Despite initial concerns about potential disruptions from the forecasted El Niño rains, favorable weather conditions facilitated the smooth transportation of examination materials. Abdi urged former candidates to register for the 2027 KCSE exams, as it will be the final opportunity under the 8-4-4 curriculum. He also encouraged those who have not collected their KCSE certificates to do so, emphasizing their importance for further education and employment.

Abdi expressed confidence in the integrity of the examination process, noting the county’s strong record against malpractices in previous years. He also mentioned that education officials are monitoring a candidate from Perani Secondary School who recently gave birth, ensuring she receives support to complete her examinations.
