Chuka:Authorities in Chuka North Sub-county have heightened security measures to curb examination malpractice as 2,181 candidates from 17 secondary schools begin the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Examinations.
According to Kenya News Agency, Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Benson Karani stated that measures have been put in place to safeguard the integrity of the examinations and ensure their smooth administration. Karani warned examination officials, security personnel, and other individuals against carrying mobile phones into examination centers, noting that this restriction also applies to police officers deployed to provide security.
Karani emphasized that the measures aim to prevent possible examination irregularities and ensure the credibility of the national assessments. He also urged school principals to ensure that all registered candidates are allowed to sit for the examinations, emphasizing that no student should be denied the opportunity once registered.
Meanwhile, Chuka North Sub-county Director of Education Peter Ithiri reported that the Sub-county has registered 2,181 candidates, comprising 1,192 girls and 989 boys, from 17 secondary schools. Ithiri confirmed that adequate preparations have been made to facilitate the smooth administration of the examinations across all centers, despite the ongoing rains.
He noted that the rains have not affected the distribution of examination materials and added that contingency plans are in place to ensure candidates receive their examination papers without disruption in the event of heavy rainfall. The Sub-county Education Director assured candidates and other stakeholders that the Education Department is prepared to address any weather-related challenges that could arise during the examination period.
