Karura: Karura Town Centre in Kiambaa Constituency, Kiambu County, is undergoing significant renovation work sponsored by the Constituency Development Fund, under the leadership of Member of Parliament (MP) John Njuguna, also known as Kawanjiku. The initiative aims to stimulate business growth in the area.
According to Kenya News Agency, MP Kawanjiku emphasized that the ongoing tarmacking efforts are designed to tackle longstanding issues such as dust and mud, thereby enhancing safety and mobility. These improvements are expected to rejuvenate the business environment and establish a foundation for economic growth. During a recent address to local residents, Kawanjiku reassured them that construction would resume following disruptions caused by heavy rains in April and May.
A 2025 infrastructure assessment report for Kiambu County painted a challenging picture of the area, where muddy roads resulting from heavy rains have hindered business activities. The lack of drainage facilities and poor road conditions
forced motorists to seek alternative routes, and vehicles delivering goods frequently got stuck.
In May, similar roadworks were commissioned by MP Kawanjiku along ACK Kawaida Parish-Catholic Road and Kawaida Police Post Road. Despite difficult conditions, these renovations were initiated to improve accessibility and enhance the area’s appearance.
At Ndenderu market centre, cabro installations are in progress to upgrade the market and surrounding areas, benefiting hundreds of traders operating daily. Kawanjiku expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting that the transformation of Ndenderu Town Centre has been carefully planned and is nearing completion.
