Kajiado: Kajiado East Member of Parliament Kakuta Ole Maimai has overseen the disbursement of National Government Constituencies Development Fund bursaries worth Sh33 million with 6,100 learners benefiting. According to Kenya News Agency, the allocation process saw Kitengela Ward, a densely populated area, receive Sh5,969,000 for secondary students and Sh5,865,000 for tertiary and university students. Oloosirkon-Sholinke Ward was allocated Sh1.2 million for secondary students and Sh925,000 for tertiary and university students.
Ole Maimai urged the public to report any grievances regarding the committees to his office, rather than resorting to social media. He stressed the importance of due diligence in selecting beneficiaries, ensuring that only the neediest receive support. The MP reaffirmed his commitment to building educational institutions in the constituency to empower the community through education, enabling them to make informed decisions impacting their future.
Eunice Sakian, a parent of one of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the MP for the timely disbursement of bursaries before the schools reopen for the second term. She noted that this initiative would save on time and transport costs that would otherwise be incurred if students were sent home due to lack of school fees.
