Nairobi: Residents of Ijara Constituency, Ijara Sub County have today endorsed Asha Dekow Olow’s bid to vie for Garissa County women representative in the coming 2027 general election. Mrs. Olow received support following a meeting held by local elders, the youth, and grassroots women at a hotel in Ijara Sub County, Garissa County.

According to Kenya News Agency, Olow presented her political vision to the grassroots residents, emphasizing her commitment to engaging community members to set development priorities. She highlighted the importance of education, and the empowerment of women and youth groups in Ijara constituency, among other pressing needs, should she be elected. She also addressed critical challenges faced by the area residents, such as power outages, pledging to liaise with the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) to establish a sub-station in Masalani town to serve the entire constituency.

Mrs. Olow, who grew up in Ijara, previously contested in the 2022 general election but was narrowly defeated by the current Garissa County women representative, Udgoon Siyad Kuno. After a stint in the United Kingdom, she has returned to seek a second opportunity to serve her community, expressing her desire to live among them and contribute to their development.

She also promised to construct the Masalani-Boji Road, which has long been a source of difficulty for residents. Additionally, Olow advocated for the establishment of a Huduma Centre in Masalani town to spare residents the 43km journey to Hola in Tana River for essential services. She urged the Ministry of Public Service and Human Development to prioritize opening this center, which would also benefit neighboring Sub Counties like Hulugho and Bothai.

Olow was joined in her campaign by EALA MP, Falhadho Dekow Iman, who is also from the constituency, along with other dignitaries.
