Bungoma: Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the county, citing the provision of medical services as their top priority. Lusaka spoke while touring Makhonge dispensary in Kimilili Constituency, which is currently under construction, where he assessed the work’s progress and engaged contractors on timelines while emphasizing the need for quality delivery to ensure residents benefit from improved access to medical services once the facility is completed.
According to Kenya News Agency, the governor stated that the project is part of the county’s broader plan to bring healthcare services closer to the people. ‘This dispensary will ease pressure on the existing facilities, reduce congestion and ensure that wananchi receive timely and affordable treatment within their locality upon its completion,’ he noted.
The governor added that the new facility is expected to provide outpatient services, maternal and child healthcare, as well as immunization programs, laboratory, and pharmacy services, which will significantly boost primary healthcare delivery in Bungoma and the surrounding areas.
Noting that modern, well-equipped facilities are key to achieving universal health coverage at the county level, Lusaka confirmed that the county is determined to leave a strong legacy in healthcare by investing in infrastructure, equipment, and personnel so that local people can live healthy and productive lives.
The governor confirmed that the project forms part of a wider county strategy aimed at upgrading dispensaries and health centers to improve service delivery and reduce referral cases to major hospitals.
