Siaya: Small and medium enterprise owners have been challenged to take advantage of the government’s Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to improve entrepreneurship.

According to Kenya News Agency, the chief executive officer of the 20X Entrepreneur, Eunice Mburu, highlighted the potential of the government’s programs to elevate micro, small, and medium enterprises into thriving ventures capable of addressing the country’s unemployment issues.

Speaking at St Peter’s ACK Cathedral in Siaya town during a training session for over 200 small-scale businessmen, Mburu pointed out the affordable housing program as a significant opportunity for various professionals nationwide. She urged aspiring entrepreneurs to focus on available opportunities and cast aside negative mindsets that could impede their growth.

Mburu noted that often, micro-entrepreneurs become discouraged amidst political and economic turmoil. However, she emphasized the importance of overcoming challenges and striving to reach one’s full potential. Through its program ‘Chanuka, Jipange na Opportunities’, 20X Entrepreneur has been providing targeted skills training to bridge the gap between small enterprise owners and government support.

The CEO explained that the initiative aims to empower artisans, suppliers, and construction professionals in the Jua Kali sector, equipping them with the necessary tools to succeed in the housing value chain. This effort seeks to foster economic growth and build trust between the government and local communities.

Participants of the training, including Stephen Omondi, Esther Achieng, and Chrispine Ong’or, praised the session as timely and enlightening. They expressed the need for more training opportunities to support small enterprise owners in their business endeavors.
