Kamurguywa:Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat has issued a warning to motorists about the dangers of reckless driving, emphasizing the importance of adhering to traffic rules to prevent road accidents.
According to Kenya News Agency, Lagat highlighted that many road accidents could be avoided if drivers were more considerate of other road users. He made these remarks during the burial of Benjamin Kiptoo Sawe in Chesumei, Nandi County. Sawe tragically lost his life when a lorry collided with his vehicle on his way to his son’s graduation ceremony.
Lagat noted the recent loss of 17 lives along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway as a result of human error. He pointed out that the upcoming Christmas season is likely to see an increase in the number of vehicles on the road, raising the possibility of more accidents. He urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations to reduce the risk of accidents and save lives.
In addition to road safety, Lagat warned against the production and sale of illicit brews and narcotics. He announced that police would intensify operations to combat this issue in various parts of Nandi, including Baraton, Chepterit, Kapsabet, and Mosoriot. Lagat stated that efforts are being made to foster a healthy society free from drugs, and those involved in illegal trade should consider themselves warned.
