Isiolo: The State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications mourns the loss of David Mutwiri Magiri, a Senior Information Officer at the Chuka County Information Office in Tharaka Nithi County, who passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, due to a tragic accident in Isiolo town.

According to Kenya News Agency, the Principal Secretary in the State Department of Information and Broadcasting, Stephen Isaboke, expressed condolences through a message read by Joseph Kipkoech, Director of the Directorate of Information. The message highlighted Mutwiri’s commitment and reliability as an employee, as well as his devotion to his family.

Joseph Kipkoech shared that departmental records show Mutwiri was born in 1969, attended Nairobi School and Egerton University, and joined the State Department for Information and Broadcasting in June 2011. He initially served as an Information Officer II in Lamu District and later transferred to Isiolo County in 2015. In October 2018, he was posted to Chuka, where he worked until his untimely death.

Mutwiri’s burial took place on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Githongo village, Imenti, Meru County. The ceremony was attended by information officers from various counties, family members, local residents, leaders, and clergy.

David Mutwiri is survived by his wife, Caroline Gataka, and children, Shem Mwiti, Karen Mukiri, and Michael Mwenda. PS Isaboke, in his condolence message, extended prayers for strength and resilience for Mutwiri’s family and colleagues, emphasizing the impact of his values. The Ministry of Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy, particularly the State Department for Information and Broadcasting, will miss his skills, precision, and dedication.
