Rachuonyo: Rachuonyo Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Silvester Mwangulu has called for peaceful and harmonious relationships within the community to spur development. The DCC emphasized that political differences should not lead to enmity and disunity in the society.
According to Kenya News Agency, the DCC urged leaders and residents to be patient with one another and to avoid political differences that hinder development. During a public Baraza in Kodera North location, the commissioner highlighted the importance of living harmoniously as a community to facilitate quick decision-making, especially in providing feedback on government initiatives.
The DCC stated that when the government is perceived as distant, it is vital for the community, which includes village elders, business people, religious leaders, Boda bodas, women, youth, farmers, health promoters, and chiefs, to collaborate as key stakeholders. This collaboration is essential to drive the community forward.
He noted that working together in unity and justice will lead to a peaceful society, enabling progress in development, health improvements, and ensuring safety and security for all. The DCC encouraged residents to engage actively in decision-making to access government opportunities and to take responsibility instead of complaining.
The DCC also urged cooperation with both elected and unelected leaders and opinion leaders to foster a unified voice on development programs. During the public Baraza, the DCC operationalized two newly created sub-locations, Kopiyo Karandini and Kasire Kogelo, which were gazetted in 2017. The commissioner stated that these new administrative units will enhance security, a critical aspect of the bottom-up economic transformation agenda (BETA), especially in expansive locations where a single chief may struggle to manage without a police post.
