Coast Leaders Support Government’s Land Titling Initiative

Mombasa:Said Abdalla, a prominent politician in Mombasa known as ‘Saido,’ has praised the national government’s effort to resolve historical land injustices by providing free title deeds to landless citizens.

According to Kenya News Agency, the government has embarked on a significant initiative to address long-standing land injustices at the coast by issuing 33,000 title deeds. President Dr. William Ruto, during his coastal tour, launched the second phase of the national titling program, distributing 300,000 title deeds to residents across Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu, Taita Taveta, and Tana River counties.

The issuance of title deeds is part of a broader plan to distribute 500,000 land ownership documents, aiming to tackle the squatter issues and other land-related challenges that have affected coastal communities for decades. At the Mama Ngina Waterfront Grounds, President Ruto distributed 5,000 title deeds to residents from various settlement schemes in the coastal county.

This initiative is a part of the President’s larger commitment to resolving both historical and administrative land challenges in the Coast region. The National Land Titling Programme has achieved a significant milestone by issuing over one million title deeds nationwide.

Abdalla, who is a parliamentary hopeful for Nyali constituency in the 2027 general election, supports this initiative. He believes it will unlock economic potential and empower local communities by providing permanent land security and enabling access to loans for development projects.

The politician highlighted that squatters have long faced uncertainty and threats of eviction, and the government’s actions directly address these historical injustices. Abdalla also emphasized the need to combat land grabbing, which has reached alarming levels in the coastal region, and called for action against those driven by greed.

Abdalla has expressed his strong support for President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration, advocating for stability and continuity to fulfill their development agenda ahead of the 2027 general polls.
