Kericho:The Priest-In-Charge of St Patrick’s Keongo Parish, Father Hilary Magerer, has made a call for Kenyans to foster peace and reject political divisions as the nation approaches the 2027 General Election. This call was made during the Kericho Deanery Music Festival, an event designed to nurture talent and strengthen fellowship among Catholic believers under the theme of ‘Peace and Love.’
According to Kenya News Agency, the festival gathered choirs from various parishes, including Our Lady of Fatima Kipchimchim Parish, Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish, St Patrick’s Keongo Parish, and St Mary’s Motobo Parish. The event provided an opportunity for the faithful to celebrate their Catholic faith and reflect on Christian teachings that promote harmony within society.
Father Magerer emphasized the importance of using music not only for entertainment but as a means of evangelization and a reminder of the Christian responsibility to love one another despite differing political views or personal beliefs. He urged Christians to draw inspiration from the teachings of Jesus Christ to promote unity and peaceful coexistence among diverse groups.
The priest highlighted the pastoral responsibility of the Catholic Church to promote peace through teaching the Gospel, encouraging reconciliation, and guiding believers to become agents of unity within their communities. Father Magerer also encouraged choir members to see their musical talents as a ministry, extending beyond performances to inspiring positive change in society.
The festival served as a platform for Catholic faithful to express their faith through music, renew their commitment to Christian values, and promote peace, love, and service as practical expressions of their faith. As the General Election approaches, Father Magerer urged believers to embrace forgiveness, respect differing opinions, and participate responsibly in community affairs to foster a culture of peace.
