Call For Peace Amid Surge In Political Unrest

Nairobi: Laikipia North Member of Parliament Sarah Korere has launched peace campaigns aimed to sensitize youth ahead of next year’s general elections. Speaking in Sirimon Secondary School in Laikipia, where she commissioned a state-of-the-art modern laboratory, the legislator stated that young people were being exploited by politicians who buy them alcohol to incite disorder.

According to Kenya News Agency, the MP emphasized the consequences of being manipulated for selfish gains, highlighting that the instigators have their own children who are not subjected to such activities. She urged the youth to avoid engaging in disruptive behavior and cautioned that causing chaos at opponents’ political gatherings is illegal. Korere stressed the importance of allowing all political aspirants to present their views without interference.

The MP made a direct appeal to politicians, urging them to refrain from taking advantage of the youth to advance their agendas through mayhem. She warned that intoxicating the youth could lead to unfavorable consequences for those involved. Korere advised residents to scrutinize and elect leaders based on ideologies and track records rather than political affiliations or tribal considerations.

Korere strongly urged the youth not to permit themselves to be used by politicians to disrupt rivals’ political rallies, emphasizing the need for peaceful and fair electoral processes.
