Bandari Queens FC sink Gor Mahia Queens

Bandari Queens FC sunk Gor Mahia Queens 1-0 in the opening match of the Women’s National Super League (WNSL) played at Ronald Ngala Stadium on Saturday.

The sole goal of the match was scored by Bandari’s Happy Nyadzua in the 58th minute.

Bandari Queens FC controlled the whole match while Gor Mahia Queens relied more on counter-attacks.

Nyadzua intercepted the ball from Gor Mahia’s defenders, past two of them, and the goalkeeper, to score, earning Bandari Queens three points.

This match marked the first-ever meeting between the two teams in history but was challenging due to the rain, which made the field slippery.

Bandari Queens FC Coach, Janet Amuga, was impressed with her team’s win despite the challenge of the weather, which destroyed the field.

‘It was not an easy match for us, but we tackled the game. We had a lot of opportunities, but we were able to utilise one, so I am happy with the win,’ said Amuga.

Francis Ocholo, Gor Mahia Queens coach, was disappointed that a single mistake cost them to lo
se the game.

‘I am disappointed with the mistake we made that awarded them victory, but I am happy with the way my team played, and I hope that we will change for the better moving forward to our next match,’ stated Ochola.

The Gor Mahia Queens are preparing to face Gaspo at home while Bandari will meet Sunderland away next week.
