Nairobi: Airtel Money customers can now make payments directly to DTB Till Moja merchants, following a strategic partnership aimed at empowering Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with more flexible and convenient ways to receive payments. In addition, the partnership now allows customers to deposit money directly from their Airtel Money wallets into their DTB accounts, making it easier for customers to send money, pay bills, and manage their finances instantly and securely from their mobile phones without having to visit a bank branch or payment outlet. Customers will also enjoy a 50 percent guaranteed cashback as airtime on all Paybill payments, enhancing the value and affordability of everyday transactions.

According to Kenya News Agency, Airtel Money Kenya Managing Director (MD) Anne Kinuthia-Otieno emphasized the company’s commitment to facilitating seamless flow of money across Kenya’s financial ecosystem. She noted that while customers have previously been able to send funds to DTB accounts, the new feature extends that convenience to DTB Till Moja merchants, creating more value for customers and small businesses. She further highlighted that by removing barriers to financial inclusion, Airtel Money is making transactions faster, simpler, and safer, which supports the growth of a more inclusive digital economy.

Kinuthia-Otieno also pointed out that the partnership strengthens the vision of providing customers with flexible and affordable ways to save and transact. It addresses longstanding barriers to financial access, particularly for customers in rural and underserved areas who rely on mobile money for daily transactions, thereby lowering costs and making financial services more convenient and inclusive for all.

In a quick rejoinder, George Otiende, Director of Retail Banking at DTB, affirmed that DTB’s priority is to provide customers with multiple payment options that fit their everyday needs. Otiende stated that the partnership with Airtel Money is a step forward in removing barriers to accessing banking services, especially for SMEs and individuals who rely on mobile money for convenience. He explained that by expanding the ways customers can pay, save, and transact, DTB is making banking more inclusive, flexible, and accessible for everyone.
