The leadership of Homa Bay County is set for changes as Governor Gladys Wanga moves to improve service delivery.
The Governor on Thursday appointed temporary officials to serve in various departments in her government saying that the move is to ensure an alignment in the implementation of new government policies.
“Following the change in administration and transition, we are making temporary changes in order to ensure an aligned implementation of new government policies meant to strengthen the governance and enhance service delivery to the people of Homa Bay,” said Wanga.
She explained that officials including County Executive Committee Members would be appointed in a few weeks’ time when the various positions in the Public Service Board and other offices would be advertised too to ensure full constitution of government.
“These changes will be coming every so often until we are fully constituted,” she added.
The Governor spoke after meeting health officials from sub-county health facilities all over the county on Thursday where she was seeking the best way they could work together to deliver services.
Wanga assured the people that her government is determined to deliver the very best services and that these changes would continuously take place until appointments are made.
“I want to assure the people of Homa Bay that we are determined to deliver the very best services to them and will continue to make these changes until we are able to make substantive appointments as a government,” she stated.
“I have appointed Dr Kevin Osuri as the Acting Chief Officer in the department of health,” she said.
Osuri is the Chairman of Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacist and Dentist Union, Nyanza region.
Seth Okoth Giriago who is the Director of Finance in the department of Health has been moved to the department of Finance, Economic Planning and Service Delivery as the Acting Chief Officer Finance.
Noah Otieno has been moved to the department of Tourism, Sports, Gender, Culture and Social Services as the Chief Officer.
Gerald Akeche is now the appointed Chief Officer in the department of Energy and Natural Resources while Joseph Ochieng Oyugi who was an accountant in the Municipal Board of Homa Bay is now the Director of Finance, department of Health.
Laban Otieno Ayoo who is the current Director of Finance in the department of Finance is now the Acting head of Accounts, department of Finance, Economic Planning and Service Delivery.
Dan Lieta has been moved from being the Head of Accounts to the Director of Tourism in the department of Tourism, Sports, Gender, Culture and Social Services position while at the same time, Bob Collins has been made the Acting Director Human Resource in the Governor’s Office.
Ruth Aloo who was the Chief Officer, Department of Natural Resources is now the Acting Secretary of CEO to the Public Service Board.
The position of the Director of Housing in the Department of Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Physical Planning has been temporarily awarded to Samson Okumu who was the Director of Procurement.
“The above changes are specifically to ensure prudent management of our county resources, inspire transparency in our Accounting and Procurement Services, improve the delivery of medical and healthcare services and inculcate best practices in our human resource management,” said Wanga.
