Uasin Gishu’s Infrastructure Projects Enhance Connectivity and Economic Growth

Eldoret:Uasin Gishu County has made significant strides in infrastructure development under Governor Jonathan Chelilim’s administration. The county has graded 4,347 kilometers of roads, graveled over 1,200 kilometers, and completed more than 30 bridges and box culverts, greatly enhancing connectivity for farmers and local businesses.

According to Kenya News Agency, these projects are part of Pillar Six of Governor Chelilim’s Nguzo Kumi agenda, focusing on Infrastructure Development. Notable completions include the Ketiplong-Bindura Box Culvert, Koisagat-Kapsabul Bridge, and the Kipsano-Cheptabach Footbridge, among others. These developments aim to bridge communities and unlock economic potential across the region.

The county is also nearing the completion of a new asphalt processing plant in Eldoret City, which is 96 percent finished. This plant is expected to enhance road construction efficiency, reduce costs by 50 percent, and support the tarmacking of roads in Eldoret and its six new municipalities. The plant aligns with the County Integrated Development Plan 2023-2027 and Governor Bii’s manifesto on infrastructure development.

Additionally, the administration has worked to decongest Eldoret City by establishing a new bus park and upgrading the Fire and Rescue Department with new water bowsers. These initiatives reflect a comprehensive approach to improving transportation and public safety in Uasin Gishu County.
