Turkana: The newly appointed chair of the Turkana County Public Service Board, Peter Ekunyuk Ingollan, has officially assumed office with a promise to introduce the first-ever employee award scheme in Turkana for outstanding performance as part of his immediate priority. His entry brings to a close a three-year leadership gap at the board, which has operated without a substantive chair since August 2022. During that period, Vice Chair Dr. Pauline Akiru Ekod served in an acting capacity.

According to Kenya News Agency, Ekunyuk outlined his immediate goals in his inaugural speech, emphasizing the creation of an employee award scheme for best-performing staff and enhancing dialogue and consultation with bodies engaging with the board. He expressed confidence in making informed decisions, having gathered substantial insights from board members and staff. Ekunyuk also committed to collaborating closely with both county and national institutions that interact with the board.

County Secretary Ambassador Dr. Richard Titus Ekai presided over the formal assumption of office, assuring the board of the County’s support in fulfilling its mandate. To ensure a seamless transition, Dr. Pauline Akiru Ekod handed over essential documents, including the Staff Establishment Report, Internship Policy, a report on Constitutional Values and Principles (Articles 10 and 232), and updates on board programs to Ekunyuk.

The ceremony was attended by Board Secretary Fransisca Bartoo, Human Resource Director Joseph Ngatotin, and Principal Administrator Simon Ipoo.
