Thousands of students who turned out to apply for education bursaries at Christ the King Igembe boys’ secondary school in Igembe south sub county have a reason to smile after the area MP John Paul Mwirigi promised that each of them will benefit.
Mwirigi thanked the over 6000 applicants drawn from secondary schools, middle level colleges and universities for placing their application, noting that it was an indication of the high number of learners in need of financial support.
He said they will all benefit from the government bursaries, of which the constituency was allocate Sh40 million.
Flanked by the Igembe South Deputy County Commissioner Joseph Sawe, the MP promised that his office is working hard to create job opportunities for youths especially those who have completed their courses.
Mwirigi maintained that he is working tirelessly to ensure Igembe region has recognizable higher learning institutions, where learners will pursue their career dreams.
“We have already completed the construction of Kindaani Technical Training Institute which will be officially opened sometime this year,” he said, adding that Igembe South opened KMTC in March 2021 and advised area learners to enrol for the March 2022 intake which is ongoing.
The MP continued to say that his office is looking forward to pay NHIF services for the vulnerable members of the community, adding that he will liaise with the Deputy County Commissioner’s office to identify those who will qualify for the assistance.
He also promised to complete all his development projects and infrastructures before his term elapses.
On his part, Sawe echoed the MP’s sentiments and advised applicants to make use of their time wisely especially with the current tight school calendar, reminding them the term dates will not be changed.
