Leeds Youngsters Wins BYSA 2021 Under 15 Talent Search Tournament

Leeds youngsters were crowned champion of Budalangi Youth Sports Academy (BYSA) in a breathless four goal thriller against Subi Academy in an entertaining match played at Makunda Secondary School grounds in Bunyala Central ward -Budalangi constituency.
Leeds FC were too strong for their opponents Subi FC as they were forced to pay for their erroneous mistakes caused by their defense.
The tournament attracted over 15 teams within the constituency in an effort to spot natural talents among youths.
BYSA president Absalim Oganda challenged youths to maintain a high level of discipline both at home and school.
“I would like to encourage youths to be disciplined in all aspects of life and avoid indulging in drug abuse and other criminal activities,” said Oganda.
Over 60 youth were selected to join the Budalangi Youths Sports Academy and will proceed to Moi Sports Centre Kasarani between March and April for one-month vigorous training.
The young soccer stars had the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of talent scouts including school principals, who were on the lookout for promising talents.
Pondi FC settled for second runners’ position in the tournament. All teams that took part in the competition were gifted with uniforms and other training kits.
BYSA head coach Silas Wekere thanked parents for trusting them and allowing their children to showcase their talents at the tender age.
Wekere is now calling on leaders and other sportsmen and women in the country to support the talent search by donating training kits and uniforms to the identified teams.
“The biggest challenge we encounter in talent development is lack of adequate training facilities among the young champs,” said Wekere.
The event was graced by a number of guests to entertain as well as mentor youths talented in different disciplines.
Top on the guests list included Budalangi parliamentary seat aspirant Juma Maloba Bwoga, the king of Ohangala music, Emma Jalamo and media personalities led by Geffrey Mwamburi.
Juma promised to construct a 6000 stadium capacity by the end of 2022 and a talent academy in Bunyala central ward saying that he had already identified sponsors towards the project.
